Industrias Canarias del Acuario Sociedad Anónima (ICA S.A.) started business in 1976 and is now the leading company in the pet sector in Spain and Portugal.
Thanks to its 25,000 m2-plus of storage throughout all its branches, ICA is able to supply more than 4,000 retailers in both Spain and Portugal. Our sales network consists of a large, highly qualified sales team capable of personally advising you on the product you really need (from the more than 3,000 included in the current catalogue) and of managing your orders within 48 hours after receiving notification.
In turn, the customer service department is capable of immediately solving all types of incident relating to orders and of informing you of the latest offers we are continuously launching onto the market. Any customer, however small, is extremely important to us.

Founding of ICA – 1976
Back in 1976, ICA was created thanks to a passion. Several months afterwards, the successful Amazonas shop was opened in the Canary Islands, followed by Món Aquàtic in Barcelona a few years later. Also in 1976, the first Tropical Center was created on a 300 m2 site in the Canary Islands. Finally, ten years later, ICA S.A. started to focus on wholesale.
Creation of the headquarters in Madrid – 1987
After little more than a decade, the ICA headquarters were founded in Madrid. Their strategic location enabled us to grow at an incredible rate and offer our services much more quickly and efficiently.
Creation of Tropical Center Toledo – 1999
Tropical Center is the liveliest extension of ICA. On a 1,400 m2 site just next door to the company’s main facilities in Toledo, it enables us to manage the resources more effectively, which means healthy, happy animals. Tropical Center is the place where pets are treated better than the customers.
Creation of the Seed Factory – 2010
The ICA Group is, once again, at the forefront. The creation of the most automated seed factory in Europe (just one person can produce 4.5 million kilos a year) sought to bring the best quality and the latest industrial technology to Spain so that we could export our product worldwide, even to the complicated Chinese market. This has enabled us to reduce costs and offer a very successful product at a price that only a few are able to offer.
ICA renews its corporate identity – 2014
It was time: after 34 years of service, a minor overhaul was required. A young team of designers achieved this in the subtlest way. The new symbol logo, despite preserving the basic lines of the previous one, was able to represent the new philosophy of ICA: renewal and adaptation to new times. The symbol logo was not the only change: the packaging, the products, everything… it was all updated in line with new trends.
Technological renewal begins – 2016
From the Apple-I to the Google Pixel 2, some things have changed in terms of technology. At ICA we have always been aware of the fact that we must remain up to date and our new team with experience in new technologies was appointed to boost the great upgrade. Starting with the hardware before continuing with the software, ICA has invested in the future.
A year of constant improvements – 2017
Throughout 2017, making the most of the economic recovery, ICA decided to invest in different areas. All to make sure that our customer (including the customers of our customers) were the most satisfied in the market.
Expansion of the sales network – January
Being present throughout Spain is very important, which is why we appointed a total of five sales representatives. We also reached new import and export agreements.
Renovation of Tropical Center – April
With the COMPLETE renovation of Tropical Center, we sought to adapt to both the current and the up-and-coming market. The new Tropical Center arrived at the same time as its new website, in which photographs took a leading role… But that’s not all: we are already working on new functions, as we have done with the ICA website.
Creation of a test laboratory – May
Leading-brand products have always been included in our catalogue, but we also want to offer innovative new products that the world would otherwise not see for years.
Renewal in R&D+i – August
The incorporation of permanent staff to the research, development and innovation team has enabled us to develop new state-of-the-art products that no-one else can offer. We currently have a Doctor in Aquaculture (Marine Science Graduate with a Master’s in Seafarming), as well as a Graduate in Marine Science (with a Master’s in Seafarming) and an Electronic Engineer.
Renewal of our main website – December
Once all the ICA websites had been updated, it was the turn of the main site. Now, as we include new utilities, you can save time on the most commonplace procedures thanks to the tools the WEBSITE provides. From viewing all our catalogue which is updated in real time, to downloading invoices or informing of incidents. Everything is possible in just a few seconds after registering as an ICA customer.
Continue growing and improving – 2018
This year, we continue to present new products (especially for the dog sector) and doing what we do best: being there for you, our best customer.
